What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a medication in the GLP-1 receptor agonist class. It offers many benefits for weight loss. You may know it by one of its trendy brand names, Ozempic® , Wegovy® and Rybelsus®.
Semaglutide can be a powerful tool for long-term weight management, but it shouldn’t be the only approach to weight loss. Patients must incorporate healthy choices with diet and regular exercise for optimal results.
What is L-Carnatine?
L-Carnatine is an amino acid that is made in the human brain, liver, and kidneys. It helps the body turn fat into energy.
How Do I Get Started?
Patients must have had laboratory tests taken with their primary doctor within the last 3-6 months which include: Thyroid Panel, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Comprehensive Metabolic Profile (CMP), Lipid Panel, and Hemoglobin A1C. A copy of the lab report must be brought to your initial Weight Management Program consultation.
The first semaglutide dosage for new patients is relatively low. We slowly increase it over 12 weeks to help you get to your desired weight. At the end of 12 weeks most of our patients remain on a maintenance dose and then wean off the medication slowly over time.
It typically takes about two weeks for semaglutide to start working in the body. While taking semaglutide, some people begin to see results within the first eight weeks, but most begin to see results within 12 weeks. Those patients who commit to a minimum of three to four months to see significant changes.
Our patients make regular visits so that we can administer weekly injections.
We require all new patients receive injections in the office for the first 4 weeks to be monitored due to the nature of the drug and the potential for side effects.*
*Common, but troublesome side effects may include, but not limited to: dry mouth, headaches, nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions, decreased insulin sensitivity, fatigue, lightheadedness, abdominal cramping, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, gallstones, hypoglycemia, and additional side effects not listed that will be discussed during your evaluation with Skin2Soul. These side effects are generally rare, and most patients tolerate treatment without an issue.
