Skin2Soul recently donated $100 to Heidi Willcox who is running the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon with Team for Kids. Team for Kids is a team of adult runners who raise funds for critical services provided by New York Road Runners Youth Programs. These programs combat childhood obesity and empower youth development via running and character-building programs across the country.
Children are excited about being active when they are given motivation! In the school that Kim teaches at, she witnessed kids doing just that – choosing exercise. Some use their time before school to earn/log miles by doing laps in the gymnasium instead of sitting and playing games on their phones. Others use their recess time to run. Their motivation was the Team for Kids Mighty Milers K-8 running program. The goal is that each child will have at least accumulated enough mileage to add up to having completed a marathon.
